After Care
Washing
- I recommend using only Zen Hair products to maintain the quality of your extensions.
- Wash your extensions just 1–2 times per week.
- Before washing, gently detangle your hair and separate the bonds.
- Smooth shampoo down the extensions - never rub - to avoid tangling.
- Apply conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends only, avoiding the bonds.
- When hair is damp, use a protein spray or a lightweight oil/serum.
- If you have tape extensions, dry the adhesive area first using the cool setting on your hairdryer.
Brushing
- Always use a specialist extensions brush, especially near the bonds, to prevent snagging.
- Support the bonds with your hand while brushing to avoid pulling.
- Gently separate the bonds daily with your fingers to prevent matting.
- Use an extensions brush whether your hair is wet or dry.
Styling
- Keep heat tools away from the bonds.
- Always apply a heat protection spray before blow-drying or using any heated styling tools.
- The more heat you use, the shorter your extensions’ lifespan will be. Treat them with the same care you would give your natural hair.
Sun & Swimming
Exposure to sun, chlorine, and salt water can dry out your extensions. If swimming or spending time in the sun, I recommend protecting your hair with a leave-in conditioner or wearing it up in a loose braid.
